These sorts of local community protest-based micronations have a long history in the UK.
Quite a few of them date to the reign of Margaret Thatcher, and were a result of various urban renewal and/or road construction projects in and around London.
Frestonia and Wanstonia are two of the best known.

Thatcher had that sort of impact.... I'm just surprised the Scots didn't take up arms during the 80's.
