www.shetnews.co.uk/news/1213-forvik-campaigner-in-the-cells.htmlI have to doff my helmet (of military fetish) to Stuart Hill, who has pushed the pole-iss (Scots Gaelic) into arresting him in an effort to challenge Shetland's place within the UK. But with the nickname of 'Captain Calamity' I feel the venture could be doomed. I do wish him all the best though...

Look at the rust under the door of that van!
He wouldn't be allowed to register that vehicle in Sydney without first getting that seen to.
Clearly Forvik has some pretty dodgy vehicle registration processes!

A classic case of boldness and stupidity rolled into one. I can't quite fathom who the bold and stupid are in this story. My knee-jerk reaction is all of the above.

Shetland Isles web forum... an eye witness to the Forvik 'trial' this morning gives his view on proceedings. www.shetlink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9992&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=525"Mr Hill was called and again he tried to get clarification as to whether his coming forward had any effect with respect to acceptance or non-acceptance of the court's jurisdiction. The Sheriff was having none of this and repeatedly laid down the line that if Mr Hill wished to say anything to him he had to be in the correct place and he could not address the court from the public space. Mr Hill was consequently unprepared to do so, but the Sheriff gave him the ultimatum that he either questioned the court's jurisdiction from the correct place, or else he'd be jailed on the spot. The Sheriff also took quite a dim view of Mr Hill's choice of clothing and wished to know why he was so dressed. He had chosen to wear a black gown similar (though home made) to those worn by the court officials. He also had a judicial wig with him, but wasn't wearing it during the hearing. The charges were then mentioned whereupon Mr Hill questioned jurisdiction. The Sheriff asked for a precise statement of Mr Hill's reasons for questioning jurisdiction. These were the allegations that Shetland has never been part of Scotland, the UK, or the EU. The Sheriff noted the response and stated that these would be dealt with at a hearing at 11:00 on 16th Aug. He also told Mr Hill that he was not going to allow him to appear wearing the gaffa edged gown at that hearing."

I can guarantee that Mr Hill will be given short shrift by Shetland's - and any other - courts of law.
Leonard Casley from Hutt River tried something similar on a tax-related matter a few years back at the High Court of Australia, and was unceremoniously turfed out as a vexatious litigant.
