For those unaware, I have been training for the Portland marathon in October. I started mid-April as a mouse jockey and couch potato. My very first run was a mile and consisted of alternating 5 blocks running, 3 blocks wheezing. I am now running 5-6 miles 2-3 times a week. My Saturday run is up to 11 miles and climbing. I have been given a free entry to the marathon by virtue of being connected to a non-profit that is sponsoring the race this year. The NOE center is an organization in Mexico City that offers after school programs and tutoring to school kids and their families. A high percentage of students who go through the NOE center and graduate land and maintain good jobs and become a part of their local community. Since NOE paid my entry fee, they are asking me to raise $1000 for them by race time. I figure if I can contact 200 people and get an average of $5 each, I'll meet that goal. If you would like to support me (or place bets on whether or not I'll finish the race), you can visit www.noeinternational.com/runnersponsor.html, scroll to the bottom, and click the 'Donate' button next to my name (Brian D'Agostine at the bottom - late entry). Donations go straight to NOE and are handled by Paypal - you do not need an account to donate, you can use your credit or debit card. I won't even see the donor list so you could give a whopping $0.08 or $100 and I'd never know. Feel free to spread the word on other boards that might be interested in supporting me. Thanks for your support!

Finisher!
On October 7th I finished the Portland Marathon in 5:25:37. I therefore declare myself to be the first micronational leader to complete a marathon.
Any challengers?
Thanks to all who gave donations to the charity I was running for. They were able to raise over US$41,000.
Thus endeth my running career.
