Traitor! Traitoresse! Though, according to more detailed news in English, she claims to be a direct descendant of the medieval Principes of Seborga.

A Princess is claiming to be the legitimate heir to Seborga's throne Her Imperial Royal Highness Professor Doctor Princess Yasmine von Honhenstaufen Anjou Plantagenet, as she is self-effacingly known, fails the "Crackpot Test" bigtime. 1. Her website is an rambling, incoherent technicolour disaster that attempts to justify her claims via highly selective misreadings of mediaeval law, a dodgy made-up pedigree, and a couple of degree mill qualificatons. In reality, the lady has no more legitimate a claim to Seborga than I do. 2. The Crackpot Alarm typically goes off when nutters claim descent from ONE extinct royal house. Hedging her bets, Princess Yasmine claims descent from THREE of them PLUS the extant but non-reigning Hohenzollerns. I guess she figures that one can never be too royal. 3. She wears a mean pair of sunnies, and probably holidays on a mega-yacht on the Cote d'Azure and is an expert in the fine art of air-kissing and calling everyone she meets "daaarlink"... but she is also very likely insane. Quick! Someone arrange a blind date for the princess and Tallini! It's a match made in heaven!

I've just finished compiling this History of Hutt River in Newspaper. Google News archive is wonderful, I managed to dig up a dozen of so 1970s and 1980s articles about Hutt River. Tellingly, the earliest articles I can find on Prince Leonard are all about him being fined by one authority or another which did not recognize his independence.

AHA! You just hit paydirt! "During the Press conference at Tullamarine, Prince Leonard also elevated his Tasmanian Agent General, “Sir” John Rudge..."That would be "Sir" John Charlton Rudge, aka the Grand Duke of Avram. I always suspected there was a connection, but could never prove it. Rudge is another batty fellow with a longstanding interest in self-glorification via adherence to hermetic cabbalistic theology, numerology and all the usual Dan Brown-esque obscurantist poppycock that goes along with it.

That he did, but you have to remember that Tasmania is a little bit *special*, strange things sometimes happen, it's a political "twighight zone".

At least they have a new website now. The last one was embarrassing. Still no pictures though.

Yes, I got a bit of a chuckle out of that too.
Unless they name the countries and the negotiators, it's just standard micronation fantasy stuff.
I suspect there's a fairly high "aspirational" quotient to most of what the website claims.
From what Judy told me, the Mudgee property is basically undeveloped bushland at present.

One of my friends who came along to the book launch is a lawyer. After I left he got into conversation with one of the Snake Hill people about their case, and as a result he may end up doing some pro bono work for them.
He also said that they have a fundamental misunderstanding of some very basic legal principles.

That's pretty much the way with a whole range of Australian micronations inspired by Hutt River or the British Israelist mobs.
