The Seasteading conferences are a quite similar topic area, although we focus only on ocean locations, and only on serious projects (the goal is independence) not on fanciful ones. Our conference last year had about 20 great talks which are all available as online videos, if anyone's interested: seasteading.org/interact/events/conference09

Give it a go... Jason managed it OK. :-) Some A1 public servant appears to have misplaced our only flag >< Are there any recommended flag makers (in Australia preferably)?

Google is your friend.
Or just go down to Spotlight or Lincraft, buy some fabric, get your parents' sewing machine (or seeing as you're at highschool, there is probably a Home Ec dept) and sew one up!

In the past I've used a company called Panhandling in Crows Nest, Sydney for both sewn and silkscreen-printed flags.

Ok I'll see if we can fine someone in A1 with some sort of textile skills (i.e. not me).
Thanks!

I believe Jason's mum is running something of a cottage industry for micronational regalia these days... :-)

George, if I'm sending a flag- and that's okay- do you know what time I should be sure to send it by? I've tried interpreting the 'wonders' of my local postal system, but to no avail, and was wondering if you know how long this kind of package would take.

A small package sent by first class airmail from the UK to Sydney should take 7-10 working days max.
I look forward to receiving it!

Good news people!
Macquarie Uni has agreed to stump up the entire cost of PoliNation, and as a consequence the $25 registration fee for participants will now be waived.

Stephen Szabo from the Heraldry Society of Australia will be presenting a paper on the awards and honours of the Principality of Breffni, a supposed Irish principality that conducted public inverstitures in the Sydney suburb of Balmain in the 1980s. . Salutations all! Just a bit of an update and clarification on my contribution to the conference. While George encountered me in my Australian Heraldry Society capacity when I invited him to speak on the heraldry of micronations at one of our meetings (and it was a most excellent presentation), I am not attending the conference as a representative of the Society, but in my capacity as an independent scholar. I am interested in orders of chivalry that are described as "self-styled" or sometimes less kindly as "bogus", and related things, hence the proposed paper mentioned above. I have since decided that I cannot gather sufficent material on Breffni in time for the conference, and have since decided that a paper titled "Paul Baron Neuman of Kara Bagh, Aeterna Lucina, and the Confederation of Chivalry". This covers the bases of "real world" noble claimants, a micro-nation, and orders of chivalry, and should be of interest, I hope. Regards Stephen Michael Szabo Independent Scholar

Yes - the intention is to record as much of the conference as possible on video (as well as still pictures) for later publication online.

Interesting - no one ever mentioned that I was presenting, but I'm happy to do so. How long does it have to go for/what do I talk about?

What I think Judy is after in that part of the conference is a general discussion in which each micronation's raison d'etre, activities etc are outlined and discussed with those present. You can go into as much or as little detail as you feel appropriate.
I don't think she's looking for a formal speech or written presentation.
