Hello from the PRP, deep in the County Down Irish countryside. Have not posted lately but wanted to assure you that the Podjistan project is ticking along and that we are a long way from giving up, despite the prevailing mentality in Northern Ireland.
Our numbers are growing with the website picking up new members and some people registering their support via the facebook page... www.facebook.com/pages/Peoples-Republic-of-Podjistan/125792414143437 The British Census arrived last month and four of the five resident citizens have put 'Podjistani' as their national identity, with a non resident citizen also nominating themselves as Podjistani on their own census form. We have also re-registered our address as 'The Peoples Republic of Podjistan'
In terms of the goals we are seeking to achieve in terms of equality for all... two of us have been lucky enough to get involved with an Anti Hate Crime group that gives us access to some important civil servants, and we have also been involved in the initial stages of setting up a support group in the border town of Newry. Although these groups are not directly linked with the state of Podjistan, some of the policies that we initiated within the state have spilt out and are helping to inform policy makers in Northern Ireland.... for example one of the 4 local education boards have now initiated policies for the equal treatment of transgendered young people in the school environment... where before there were none.
I know there are many micronations with lots of competing ideologies all shouting to be heard, but I didn't want you to forget the small state that we are involved in, and hopefully we can get up onto the wiki site after 1st June when we celebrate our first year struggling against inequality.
I'd also be interested in any contact from British/ Irish micronationalists in particular on their experiences.... good luck to you all
