What happens when micronationalism meets the web? All details are discussed here. It apparenlty started with this blogpost.

Imagine a society of nerds who: - do not have any females among them,
- spend all their time on Reddit,
- worship Julien Assange as their god,
- smoke cannabis on a daily basis,
...
Looks viable! ;D

They worship Assange? My god, it's even worse than I first believed!
The Apocalypse has come!
Head for the hills!

...on the other hand, consider that most micronationalists... - are male
- are aged 13 (if not physically, then mentally)
- have no money/job/experience of the real world
- suffer from either Aspbergers Syndrome, ADD or both
- are prone to narcissism, self-delusion and paranoia - all at the same time
Yeah, that'll work. ;D

Yeah, that'll work. ;D 1. Does that include you? 2. Is that a bad thing? Again, it is inadvisable to generalize, I thought someone of your age and stature would know that.

How could anyone would "smoke cannabis on a daily basis" have enough brain cells left to be classified as a nerd?

Sadly, I have a mental age of 44, am employed in a full-time job, do not suffer from any known mental or social impairment, and have a pretty realistic understanding of my place in the world, and my personal capabilities and limitations.
I'm a terrible failure as a micronationalist.
Woe is me :-)

One year ahead of you.
Father of three (and stepfather of two more).
Self-employed. Hired as an expert in a high-technology, high-visibility field. Published several books (none having anything to do with micronationalism).
Beyond the capability to extract square roots mentally when aged 10 (something I can't do today), I don't have any mental oddity.
Well, I admit I often wear medieval outfits and do some fencing, sometimes in front of a public audience. Do I qualify then?

I am nearly 17 with an IQ of 136, have been attending college since the age of 14, Have just released an album with a friend of mine and I am an amatuer designer/engineer. Although I don't suffer from narcissism (NSC) self-delusion OR paranoia, I do suffer from mild depression, self-loathing and major eccentricity, and I do have AS, ADD and a fair fair few others besides, and I have been a micronationalist since I was 8 so I don't know if I count or not.

One year ahead of you. Do I qualify then? Nah. You are morbidly normal and successful.

Hmmm... I'm 34 with 3 kids, IQ 143 (pointless but since somebody brought it up) work a steady 9-5 and support a household, er, micronation despite world economic calamity. I can rattle off the zip codes within my state and some within other states.
My wife has wondered if I have Aspbergers but eventually ruled it out. I also play with LEGO bricks. My own, not my childrens'. And I'm eternally, perpetually and dangerously optimistic.
Can I still play please?

I don't know, that optimistic part could be a deal breaker I am...hopelessly boring, at least to the untrained eye A mother of two, married to a University Professor, working on my Master's Degree, and I live in the suburbs. But, I get a free pass because I am also a writer and I majored in English with a minor in Philosophy which means I am required, by matter of trade, to be eccentric and creative and I am certified in the ability to give long, wordy speeches that make fair use of my extensive vocabulary. I am also pessimistic (I prefer realistic) enough that Russians think I should "look on the bright side"! Creative types are expected to be eccentric and push the boundaries towards new frontiers, so that makes up for the boring suburbanite part, right?

Since we’re bragging, I’m proud to be:
· a still active (blind) street fencer (currently, my wife is the only lunatic willing to fence with me). My teacher was the emminent, late but great, actor/choreographer//trainer Ralph Faulkner and Nick Evangelista;; · a practicing herbal “healer” (and I’ll keep practicing until I do something wrong!); · the author of two published books in the vampire genre (“Little Bites” and “Leather Moon”), by Lulu Press; · Although unemployed (re: above), this is mostly due to the fact that the economy stinks, and most American employers are afraid to take me on (even though I’m perfectly capable of navigating both the map and the Internet without the need for sighted help.
On the positive side, I’m also an accomplished Player (did you ever know a “puppy” or “dungeoneer” that wasn’t?). Although I know more than onelanguage, none of these are mainstream, “recognized” tongues (Litaja, Esperanto, and a bit of Klingonese). Does this mean that you “micros” won’t let me Play too?
[kicks the ground growlingly, puts hands into pockets, and walks away in a pout: “Boy! I never get to have any fun anymore!)

If a perfectly decent human being called himself a "low down cockroach", I do not believe that would be accurately defined as "being modest".
No, only another person, not necessarily worthy of his human life, would call another human being in such a way. A perfectly decent human being might call himself "unworthy of an Oscar" if he wished to be humble.
If a perfectly decent human being called himself a "theological God", and no, I don't mean a "legal God" as the Bishop of Rome is, I do not believe that would be accurately defined as "being modest".
No, only another person, not necessarily worthy of his human life, would call another human being in such a way. A perfectly decent human being might simply point out all that he factually is, might simply point out all that he factually has achieved, if he wished to be perfectly objective.
So please don't call "boasting" the pointing out all that one has factually achieved, and please don't call someone perfectly objective, if he calls another decent human being a "low down cockroach".
People who boast usually point to things they have never achieved, and only legal insects would disparage the child of a theological God, in a vain attempt to bring them down to their own eschatological legal status.
It was said by a very wise man that you shall be judged in the very same way you judge others. If you judge someone else as being a "low down cockroach", that is the very same way you shall be judged in the near future, and the judgement will be Last Judgement. No, there will be no court of appeals.
Amen.

Does this mean that you “micros” won’t let me Play too? Dagostinia may be a newbie around here but it seems as if you are more eccentric than the rest of us, ergo, the MOST qualified. Monarch

This thread has morphed into 'Eccentrics Anonymous'! Nice to put something of a person behind a moniker, even if our nations reveal something of us also. Thankfully the age of 13 pass me by some 23 years ago, but i've managed to hang on to my anger about the state i was raised in.... A father of one, and one step-daughter (not married but step-daughter is best description) who dreamt of roaming abroad but didn't get further than Cornwall due to economic hardship/ laziness and being contented at being somewhere it rained less than Ireland and one could see snakes and sharks.... truly a wonder when one is from Belfast... I was duped into returning to N.Ireland after the Peace Process, much to my partners annoyance as she thinks we're unreasonable eejits (Fools)... ... partly to appease her we have left Northern Ireland and created Podjistan, it makes dealing with live here more bearable.... I have a job (currently) and have never completed an IQ test... i believe I may have evolved from some sort of reptile, or even a cockroach, but evolutionary science is merely a theory so I may be a direct hand me down from The Almighty himself... Being from those that planted Ireland for Britain my so called community would suggest the Almighty explanation... .... there's more of them and they hold power so who am I to argue?... I try to raise chickens, oppose inequality and do try to do anyone a favour (favor - USA spelling)... I have no knowledge of Latin... I had a stroke aged 27 that means my memory is bit screwy and I officially have a brain injury... or a bit that is dead anyway... I'm pessimistic, due to weather & upbringing... I believe Irelands rejection from the next Cricket World Cup is a disgrace as they should take the aussies after sticking one up the english ... Comrade Stewart/ Podjov

I am puzzled as to why anyone would WANT to see a snake...maybe I have such a an aversion to them living in the land of human reptiles, but still, the phrase "ewww" comes to mind and I prefer to live somewhere you can safely walk about.

I don't mind snakes.
It's snakes-in-the-grass that really get my goat.
