George,
Thank you for that trip down Memory Lane. I was personally acquainted with one of the Santa Monica's factory workers who worked there from 1949 to just after 1969. She is related to my wife's family.
On another note, I was also acquainted with the NASA's Shuttle Safety Engineer; he was the father of an ex-girlfriend of mine. I got the extreme pleasure of going just under the tiled bottom of the infamous Enterprise, and was gifted with a chip (very, very small!) of one of the tiles after it'd been shaped to fit. I've always considered the moment when I had been witness to the first landing at the Mojave Desert one of those moments I could never forget.
Thanks, George, for reminding us of our future.

Absolutely brills. Would be fun to pull off someday for kicks. Not that I have US$15M lying around...

To paraphrase the film Ed Wood...
The future: it's the place where we're all going to spend the rest of our lives!
