While researching legal ramifications of including Dagostinia's stamps ( postal.dagostinia.com) onto United States Postal Service pieces, I ran across this loophole and found another porthole to the world of micro governments. The term 'artistamp' can be used for any piece of art that looks like a stamp but is obviously not and is not used for the purpose of fooling postal authorities. The main purpose is to use the postal authority as a means of displaying art. If you do a Google search for "artistamp" you might run into such entities as the Empire of Ephemerias, Ballynafae, and Laernu. Details surrounding these virtual projects are sparse but then again the stamp came first and the culture sprung up after. George, too obscure for inclusion?

I personally wouldn't classify artistamp "countries" as micronations, because they are wholly fictional creations that serve a narrow artistic-philatelic purpose - although I accept that some of the back-stories can be quite amusing and elaborate.
I'd consider them more akin to the settings of such works of literary fiction as Lord of the Rings
Micronations, by contrast, typically exist as internally-consistent (more or less) entities in their own right. They don't usually exist merely to serve some external narrative or creative design purpose.
