I'm guessing the very wet city would be Venice.
Or possibly Atlantis.
The syndrome city would be Stockholm.

Again, you're twice right...
I am waiting for pictures from:
- A deserted city where one could look for the Holy Grail... (identified by George as Petra) - A very wet city... (identified by George as Venice) - The landing place for the presumed wife of the most famous person in history after the Beatles...
Next stops: - The city were Venus was born for the second time... - A very green island... - A city with a famous syndrome... (identified by George as Stockholm) - A former secret threshold to outer space... (in July) - A Belgian micronation much funnier than Flandrensis... (in August) - One of the latest place on Earth to have been colonized by the human species... (in September)

- The landing place for the presumed wife of the most famous person in history after the Beatles... This one has taken me a bit of time to figure out... but the 'presumed wife' is Mary Magdalene. However, I'm not sure where she's supposed to have fetched up; I'm presuming it's somewhere in France (otherwise how could she have given rise to Hugh Capet and Dan Brown ?) Maybe Marseilles?

You're right for Mary Magdalene, but you're wrong by about 80 km. The place is known as "Saintes Maries de la Mer" in Camargue (the picturesque delta of the Rhône river), where she is said to have landed with two other Maries. She was welcomed here by Sainte Sarah, the patroness of Gipsies and every year there's a great pilgrimage of the gipsy community there. The Flag in Sainte Sarah's crypt (I don't know why the statue was covered with clothes, usually it's not): Camargue is also famous for its bulls and the "gardians" (the local cowboys): ¡ Olé !

Re the renaissance of the goddess of love, I assume you're referring to Sandro Boticelli's "Birth of Venus".
I can't presently recall where the work is situated, but if I had to take a guess I'd say Florence.

Now the flag makes a little excursion in fantasy worlds... In the hand of our local mermaid... Let's go post-apocalyptic! Both pictures were taken in the mountains behind the French Riviera.

I'm sure the Lady of the Lake finds carrying a flag much less burdensome than the customary sword :-)

She likes to carry the sword too, but not in the water.

I should have said "another" island... With many towers - some more than three-millenia old - and with humanoid-shaped monoliths... but not Easter Island!

The flag was recently spotted in a French city that gave its name to a European dynasty and their national soccer team as well as a county, a river and a former country on two other continents.
Any guess?

(I should get the pictures next week or so) - An island with many towers - some more than three-millenia old - and humanoid-shaped monoliths - One of the latest places on Earth to have been colonized by the human species...

The Orange Free State, a Boer republic in South Africa (1854/1902). en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_Free_StateThere is also the Orange river, flowing from Lesotho to South Africa and Namibia, and the Orange County in California. Moreover, there are apparently at least 18 cities named "Orange" in the U.S. and one in New South Wales. The current royal familiy in The Netherlands have inherited the title of Princes of Orange in the XVIth century and that's why the Dutch soccer team are known as the "Orange" and wear orange shirts although the national flag is red, white and blue. Of course, most of the above directly or indirectly derived their name from the original city where the Goose-footed flag was displayed.

Would the island with many towers possibly be somewhere in the Pacific? Somewhere, for example, like Palau?

There is also the town of Orange, in the central west of New South Wales - which, funnily enough - is an area known for the cultivation of apples.
