Greetings to All !!
Personal Experience and Point-of-View: ( validation per personal observation )
To publicly speak out about one's micronational ambitions, could be viewed by some, as a form of "self-incrimination"; whereby, one's views and goals of self-sovereignty might be believed to be a criminal act by those within the "macro".
"Think Before You Sink" !!
"Don't Stand in the Quick-Sand" !! [/i] Be cautious whenever you reply to anyone who you do not know personally; as there are those within the "macro", who are collecting data, which could be used against you, if and when the "macro" were to ever decide to do so. Secrecy and paranoia are not viable marketing strategies for any entity which intends to enjoy success. If you automatically assume that "they" are out to get you, and therefore choose not to share your vision with the world at large, you are ultimately dooming yourself to irrelevance and failure. ...on the other hand, publicly making a fool of yourself by issuing idiotic off-the-cuff pronouncements and/or generally acting like a cretin in a public forum should definitely avoided at all costs. As a number of wannabe micronationalists have found to their extreme detriment in recent months, foolish behaviour is forever thanks to the wonders of the internet. Behave badly today, and people are still going to be able to read your words and judge you on that basis in 5, 10 or 20 years from now - and you simply won't be able to get away with lying about it. ...and just in case anyone was wondering, the above comments are not a reference to any current member of this forum.

Agreed.
One has to, as the old song sings........... "known when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em" ( be visible, be professional....watch and wait....be smart )

I do not believe that I have been too terrribly foolish online... besides, you cannot get any more public than Newsweek magazine... especially when someone you don't even saw comes up to you, and exclaims, "I've seen you! You're in Newsweek magazine!" That possibility never leaves me; I always try to act respectful and courteous --- even when insulted online... I've never understood the overabundant use of some of the tactics displayed elsewhere.
