August seems to be a huge month for micronation anniversaries.
I wonder why.

Thank you, Lord Imperator! Maybe it is associated with micronations because the Bucksfanian sign of Leo starts on 28 July and ends on 22 August, and Leo is associated with Ego (also associated with children and other things). That period is also the month of Isaiah in the Cesidian calendar, Isaiah the biblical prophet, so maybe it can have, in some instances, a certain spiritual meaning. "The wolf will live with the lamb, and the leopard will lie down with the young goat; The calf, the young lion, and the fattened calf together; and a little child will lead them. The cow and the bear will graze. Their young ones will lie down together. The lion will eat straw like the ox. The nursing child will play near a cobra's hole, and the weaned child will put his hand on the viper's den. They will not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain; for the earth will be full of the knowledge of Yahweh, as the waters cover the sea."- Isaiah 11:6-9, World English Bible (WEB)

...or perhaps it's just the tail end of the northern summer, when people's thoughts turn to more intellectual, indoorsy pursuits, in advance of autumn and winter. "The wolf will eat the lamb, and the leopard will eat the young goat; The calf, and the fattened calf together being eaten by the young lion; and a little child will be eaten also. The bear will graze on the cow. Their young ones will lie down together - in the cow's case, dead. The lion will eat the succulent flesh of the dead ox. The nursing child will play near a cobra's hole, get bitten, and die, and the weaned child also will put his hand on the viper's den, get bitten and die. They will be hurt and destroyed (and mostly also eaten); for they are fools who knoweth not the natural order of the universe."The Gospel According to George

Children usually have a good sense of realism (perhaps they need it in order to avoid danger), and often it is adults that make them lose it. But today I don't read that verse like a children's tale, because the lion and the lamb, and the other animals represent completely different things, so different that even the best theologians would never be able to guess their true nature. Isaiah was hardly out-of-touch with reality, but he was trying to convey just how earth-shattering these things would be in the future. I will tell you, however, that the metaphors are about a truly beautiful thing, not a fairytale-like thing, a beautiful thing that will happen to this world soon.

Isaiah was not out of touch with his reality, ie the Levant circa 800 BCE - and that is the socio-political perspective from which his writings should be considered.
He is most certainly out of touch with our reality.

...or perhaps it's just the tail end of the northern summer, when people's thoughts turn to more intellectual, indoorsy pursuits, in advance of autumn and winter. That might apply to the bygone Free Commonwealth of Penguinea as well, which was founded in late September... but by an Australian and a Newzealander, therefor in advance of spring and summer. According to the legend, Penguinea was located on an island in the bay of Brisbane, Qld. Anyway, back to the topic: Congrats, Cesidio.

He is most certainly out of touch with our reality. He was probably the most in touch with reality, both past and present! I'm talking about the most in touch with reality in human history. In fact, Isaiah foresaw the Messiah on the cross in quite staggering detail. He also wrote verses like this about the Second Coming, probably the most meaningful verses of the entire Bible, and also the most timeless: Behold, my servant shall deal wisely, he shall be exalted and lifted up, and shall be very high [this is about the future, circa 21st Century]. Like as many were astonished at you him (his appearance was marred more than any man, and his form more than the sons of men) [an image of Yeshua on the cross, covered with blood, circa 1st Century AD], so shall he sprinkle startle many nations; kings leaders of the world shall shut their mouths at him [Isaiah is describing a reaction, but it is relatively clear that the leaders know they have the Messiah in front of them, and apparently there is no doubt in their mind]: for that which had not been told them shall they see; and that which they had not heard shall they understand [again, what Yeshua will bring when he returns, apparently a cultural/religious revolution of the first magnitude].Isaiah 52:13-15, edited version of World English Bible verses Thank you everybody for the kind words for ILI's anniversary!

Since when Hitler or Pol Pot were God's servants?
Since when Einstein believed in God (without some doubts)?
Since when Mother Theresa died on a cross, or was practically slaughtered?
Since when any of these people were Messiahs, potential Messiahs, or stated they would return one day to gather the elect of the earth?
Keep answering like this George, and I will eventually stop posting.
You are not only belittling my beliefs with your little brain and sensitivity, but belittling the basic beliefs of just about every Christian as well. I won't put up with such disrespect for long, and I'm certainly not being paid to post here.

If you can't handle having your irrational beliefs questioned, don't publish them in a public forum.

It's indeed my biggest problem with the average "religious discourse" as we know it, that those who don't believe in the validity of some particular religious statements are expected to shut up. And if they don't, there's always a lot of boohoo and complaining about how badly religious freedoms have been breached... very disturbing, this.

A forums' express purpose is to generate discussion, not to uphold the status quo.
