There's a similiar event on the steps of the State Library in Melbourne every Sunday. But expect to get heckled there, I've never gotten through more than a couple of sentences, "you have the freedom to speak, but don't expect us to listen".

There's something similar in Sydney, down at the Domain every Sunday - complete with soapboxes and hecklers.
In the 1930s tens of thousands of people used to attend. Now you're lucky to get a dozen on a warm afternoon.

Let us know how you get on with them George. If they give you a gig I'll try to show up.
On the soapboxes in the Domain, I went to check it out once or twice over a decade ago. A fine tradition, and a good place to sharpen the speaking skills with a small audience that can be supportive and heckle in equal measure.
