Greetings to All !!
Who has knowledge, or better still...first hand experience, of a "Micro Coup D'etat"; either as the victim, or else as one of the members who carried out a Micro Coup D'etat ??
Of course, *most* Micro Coup D'etats involve the take-over of the "virtual" infrastructures of a MicroGovt ( i.e. website, forum, etc ), whenever a trusted member of the MicroGovt, who has passwords and confidential info, decides to attempt an attack and take-over that aspect of a MicroGovt; which the take-over of any "physical" infrastructures of a MicroGovt that might exist ( i.e. land, bldgs, equip, ? real / tangible properties / assets, etc ), is almost impossible, as such properties are protected by "macro" laws. ( exceptions do apply of course )
One exception to the above statement, would be what is commonly known as a "hostile take-over"; which involves the positioning of varios factions of investors within a corporate setting, which can eventually cause a financial-fiasco. ( In the past, the Imperium experienced a *limited* "over-throw" )
Who here is a victim or a Micro Coup D'etat; or else, one who conspired as a member of a Micro Coup D'etat....a successful or a failed attempt ?? ( knowledge of any Micro Coup D'etat, or has witnessed first-hand experience as a victim or as a conspirator )
AND......
What was the outcome....the complete downfall of the MicroGovt; or a new-and-improved MicroGovt ??
Name names and dates if you can....
And as always, any and all informative replies are hereby thanked in advance.
ThanX !!
Regards to All !! _____________

There was a near-coup d'état staged in the Republic of Talossa in January this year. It was meant to wake up the sleepy citizens (by overthrowing the constitutional order and installing a direct-democracy council of all remaining active citizens, if I remember it well).

One attempt at a coup worth mentioning was in the Hutt River Province.
Kevin Gale, based in Queensland, had effectively ran HRP's commercial operations from his base independently of Prince Leonard and his family. During this time, there was a proliferation of coinage issued in the name of the Hutt River Province.
In 1995, Gale passed away and it was discovered that he had planned to overthrow Prince Leonard and relocate HRP to an island in the Pacific. He was posthumously declared a traitor when the extent of his activities was uncovered- including the fact that money generated from Gale's commercial activities in its name was withheld from Prince Leonard.
To this day, Prince Leonard has refused to acknowledge the whole episode- it doesn't appear in any officially-sanctioned (by Hutt River) account of Hutt River's history. It also led to a paring down of the commercial side of its activities ever since.

Ah yes, I had almost forgotten the Hutt River episode. I had the chance to meet Kevin Gale's son in Queensland several years ago, and he was adamant in claiming that his father did nothing wrong. He claimed that the hundreds of thouands of dollars raised by Gale's activities had either been sent to Prince Leonard, or to charity, and that he kept for himself only that which was necessary to cover his operating expenses. Gale's son was also the source for the "pacific island" claim. He was most insistent that Gale was only weeks away from acquiring control of a Pacific Island, upon which Hutt River could be relocated as a "real" country, at the time of his sudden death - which the son darkly hinted somehow involved Australia's secret intelligence service, ASIO. Without any evidence, of course. Hutt River itself has seemingly finally recovered from the Gale period, and has begun issuing numerous coins and stamps again over the last couple of years.

Well. In Réunion we had one in 1998 and one in 2000. The first one, is called the "Duardist Revolution". Chief Judge Eduardo Iatauro attempted to erase all the files on the Réunian file server. He was alone, and we had a BACKUP In 2000, we had the "Hypocrits Mutiny". We watched the seccessions of two of our Captaincies, while the imperial court was away for Carnival. Soon, one of them returned. The other became the Republic of Nova Straussia, and only 2 years after we were able to sign a treaty and re-take what was ours. That time they stole the mailing lists. Anyway, micronationalism is for good people, and those people are all back in Réunion again hahaha Yours, Claudio de Castro

There has been several among the Simulations, Cant remember the nations but I do remember the coups happening. We also had an attempted coup in Alteria many years ago, although it didnt get far as the main accounts for our forums etc were locked down at the time, so it was nothing more than a couple of well placed forum posts hehe.

From what I've seen, "coups" are an almost weekly occurrence in many virtual micronations.

A long time ago in Penguinea, the "micronationalist enfant terrible" Matt Dabrowski tried to initiate a secession that was intended to become a new nationette called "Penguinea Bissau", but the "conspiracy" ran out of steam before any damage was done.

Penguinea lasted a few years. It developed democratic institutions and sought to develop its own culture, but by 2000 the ship hit the iceberg so to say- ex-Penguineans will know better, but in one swoop pretty much all of Penguinea's political elite quit, and it folded a few months later. Which was pretty symptomic of what was to happen with many micronations at the time.

Penguinea Bissau. ROFL. How delightfully cute! ;D Yes, only this is making the botched "coup" memorable. ;D Btw., the "Penguinean elite" that quit the FCP were the "old ones", more or less. The remaining teenagers tried to stage a belated revolution in which all the laws of Penguinea were ditched, and then they didn't get around to creating a new ground law on which they could agree. Finally, after some months of an anxious odissey, they agreed on the official dissolution of Penguinea. The "Penguinean elite", in their lifeboat, ran short of any reason to continue with their project of an "international internet community" and eventually were saved from going under when the Republic of Talossa arose from a rebellion against King Ben of Talossa. Most of the last "Polyphonians" that were still standing joined the Talossan Republic.
