A fascinating piece of history, about which I was previously unaware. On a distinctly less commercial note, there were a number of attempts at creating utopian societies in South America in the 19th and early 20th centuries. One of the better-known was New Australia, a planned socialist paradise located in Paraguay, and settled by several hundred Australian immigrants in the 1890s.
