Greetings to All !! It is the desire and design of this message, for all member-states of this MicroForum to provide a picture to this message; so as to be presented for public viewing by all of the other members and guest of this MicroForum. *ALL* "serious" and "dedicated" micronations / MicroGovts have, at the very least, one picture that gives a visual summarization of what they think best discribes their People, or Government, or Nation. The picture(s) can be of any "physical" person, place, or thing...... anything which may open the door a bit more to the viewer; so that he or she can see how your Great State exist upon the "virtual" stage. ( i.e......"getting to know you"..... ) The "image" that you wish to present to the worlds ( micro & macro ). Example:
The "Wide Divide" on top of "Windmill Hill" { A Virtual Vista of Open Spaces and Distant Places } __________________________________________
NOTES:
Imperial City Capital Zone / CZ is visible in the center of the background.
The "Wide Divide" is merely a panoramic viewing of the Imperium, through two tall trees; from a pin-point place, located on what is commonly and locally known as "Windmill Hill". ( which is located within the Imperium's "Black Woods" )

Here's a picture of Atlantium's Foundation Monument site, taken several days ago: It's located on the lower reaches of Capital Hill, in Concordia Capital District, Aurora. The view is to the southwest, with an outlook over the District of Duggan - the heavily wooded area in the middle distance. The hills in the background are located over the border, in New South Wales. The middle flagpole has been temporarily removed while its foundations are strengthened; the site is on an exposed hillside, and is subject to strong winds (particularly in winter), so the robustness of the monument's construction is an important consideration. The central portion of the monument is to be erected directly in front of the middle pole; construction will commence next Wednesday.

This is Palmyra Beach, an island I will probably never land on unless The Almighty brings me there: This is Serranilla Bank from space, inclusive of Yahoo Island on the bottom left corner: Well, here is what I actually do control in my "territory". This is what you would see after resolving the domain gov.um in an Internet Explorer browser, on a laptop whose TCP/IP has been modified in order to resolve the Cesidian Root, almost 8 hours before the 6 May 2008 "invasion" of the islands: This is what you would see after resolving the domain gov.um in an Internet Explorer browser, on a laptop whose TCP/IP has been modified in order to resolve the Cesidian Root, just 11 minutes after 6 May 2008 "invasion" of the islands: So it was an actual virtual invasion, and the kind of invasion that had never occurred before in human history. Will it ever become a terrestrial invasion? Only The Almighty knows that. You are always "pushing the envelope of the possible" in anything new you do in the Fifth World.

I need some land of my own, so I can put up a pole like that.

I thought you already did.
I recall seeing a map you created some time ago using Google Earth that had a piece of territory somewhere on Long Island delineated upon it. It gave the distinct impression that you owned or controlled that territory in some way.

That's where I live, and my brother and uncle live within the same area. But it is not my property. My brother is fortunate to have his own house on Long Island (a very expensive, if not impossible thing to have these days), but that was a benefit from being the father of 5 kids. You know, grandparents only think about that... I, on the other hand, still single, and the only child I did help raise was a Vietnamese girl who isn't my biological child, don't have the same privileges my brother has. I'm the black sheep. I thus need to get some property where I can actually exercise my own jurisdiction, but that won't be easy, and in fact it probably will never happy unless I start making a lot of money as a writer, or through some other activity. It's incredible, isn't it? I'm the only person in my house who graduated with a university degree (with honours to boot); I'm the only person who has ever earned two high school diplomas, and from two different countries; I managed to start an intercontinental Internet (there are so few of those you can count them with your fingers); I wrote three books, one as a work-for-hire, two of which have been published, and this last one will probably be published as well; I'm not just a priest, but a self-made and legal bishop; and yet I'm still the black sheep of the house!

When I was 16 I decided to work towards the purchase of properties in Sydney and rural NSW to serve as the geographical foundation of Atlantium.
When I was 30 I achieved the former.
When I was 40 I achieved the latter.
In the latter case, development of the territory in question as intended will very like take another 2-3 decades and several hundreds of thousands of dollars to complete.
These things take many years, a great deal of money, a vast amount of energy - and unrelentingly singleminded determination - to achieve.
With this experience in mind I find most micronational plans for setting up geographical micronations to be extremely poorly thought-out - particularly when most of the people proposing them seem to have trouble finding $100 to have a mere flag manufactured - much less anything more substantial.

I receive a lot of applications from new or almost new micronations because of my involvement with the MPR and the UMMOA, and sometimes because of CILI, but I can tell you micronations are not simply poorly thought-out. There seems to be hardly any thought to begin with when they start. Of course, part of the reason is simply because very young people typically start micronations, but another reason is simply because they are started because some seventh world entity inspired them. Seventh world entities have nothing to do with nationalism, and are thus poor foundations for real nations (and I'm just saying nations, not even states). Then there's the issue that there are different kinds of micronations, and the reason they exist is essentially because micronations are started with all kinds of different purposes in mind. Some people are thus not very organised because they started a micronation as a form of protest. Other micronations are mere extensions of someone's ego, and those nations usually don't go far. Other micronations start with the right motives, but economic, social, and other circumstances are not always in their favour. So I think it's hard to generalise, but perhaps some generic advice can be useful, and I usually end up providing that kind of advice through the MPR, UMMOA, and CILI. It helps to even just register very young micronations, and even though the MPR doesn't accept them all, it does provide some input for those who wish to improve the feasibility of their national projects.
