Greetings !!
Great Subject.....
....
Along with the "rights" associated with voting, comes the
"responsibilities" associated with voting; which became
a very contested issue in the USA during the Vietnam War;
whereby those who were 18 years of age, and sent off
to fight a nation's war, argued for their "right" to elect
those who would send them off to fight the nation's wars,
since the 18 year olds were deemed "responsible" enough
to fight, kill, or be killed for their nation.
[ up until then...21 was the "legal" ( not "moral" ) age to vote ]
----------------------------------------------------------------
Now...in addition....
( not too far of a stretch.....
)
Along with that comes the *legal* age to "drink"; as it was "legal"
back then, for an 18 year old service man / woman to consume
alcohol on a US military base; but not at a bar in town....which
did turn-a-blind-eye to however.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Micronationally speaking, with regards to our own *internal*
"Laws of the Land" here in the Imperium, the "legal" age to have
a say / vote is 13 ( teenager ); and the "legal" age to drink is 18.
NOTE: here again, on special occassions...a "blind-eye" is turned
to the age of *18*...only if consumed within the borders of the
Imperium, with 15-16-17 being the lowest ages for alcohol, but
under *NO* circumstances what-so-ever, is *anyone* ever
allowed to become "drunk"......i.e......."drinking" is one thing, but
getting "drunk" is another thing to think about...i.e...a beer with
a steak vs a case of beer with a steak...and only on "special" events
is it "internally-legal" to have *A* "drink"...or two...if a low-level %.
( i.e. "designated supervision" )
Of course....I know for a fact that alcohol is miss-used and abused
from time-to-time here in the Imperium, by those who are too
young to consume such; as "macro" authorities have apprehended
several "minors" over the years, and returned them into our custody.
( real reality: i.e. a fact-of-life in the life and times of many youths )
--------------------------------------------------------------
Back to voting.........
Of course, as is the case in a great many nations, I reserve the
"right" to exercise and execute an "Executive Order", which can
over-ride any given decision; as there are issues that are deemed
"private" ( i.e. "state secrets" ) with regards to the overall ownership
and operational aspects of the business affairs of the Imperium;
and as such, I have to take into account not only the wants and
needs of the Citizens ( Family & Friends ) and Subjects ( Employees ),
but the risk-factors, projections, and consequences associated with
everyone's vested interests as well.
( a unique situation...as are *ALL* nations' situations....
......"micro" nations and "macro" nations alike )
Once again...a Great Subject....
both from a "micro" and a "macro" perspective.
