Hello, I will be hanging around Strassbourg and other Alsatian cities the next week. I know that the chance is extremely low but still - if anyone happens to be there too, PM me for details and let's have a cup of micronational coffee (no wine, I'll be driving Also, I should visit Dijon and maybe Paris in the Autumn. Note: I hate simultaneous posting to multiple fora. If the community splits again, I'll need to hire an assistant!

Nobody needs to post to multiple forums any more. As the volume of messages, number of active contributors and uniformly high standard of discourse all demonstrate, this is the only one that actually matters. ...and the tiny handful of reprobates and holdouts who are not registered members here are all regular anonymous IP visitors in any case. We're not called "Micronation Central" for nothing.

Our European members might want to consider a visit to Bienne, Switzerland. UTOPICS, the 11th Swiss Sculpture Exhibition is happening there between August 30 - October 25, 2009: ttp://www.interversion.org/utopicsWith a theme of "utopias", this year's event includes an outdoor lakeside display of 30 flags from major micronations.

...and for Australian residents, leading micronational researcher Dr Judy Lattas from Macquarie University in Sydney is planning a conference on the subject of self-declared sovereign entities during 2010. Dr Lattas is the author of the first serious academic paper on the subject of micronations in Australia. She has also been sought out as a media commentator on the phenomenon on a number of occasions. It is possible that I will be delivering an address to the conference. Stand by for further information as it comes to hand.

I know about Utopics. I am quite frustrated because I will be just about 100 km from there but my schedule won't allow me to make a side-trip.

The Australian conference sounds fascinating, if it happens I will definitely try and attend.
It would be also be a good chance for something of an intermicronational on the sidelines.

*Ahem*
Anyone on their way to Austrailia who is traversing the North American continent might be having a layover in Los Angeles International airport. If so, and the stopover is for an extended amount of time, the Warrior Monarch of TorHavn is more than willing to meet with you at the airport for any reason (hint!hint!) This goes without saying; we're also available to anyone in the press, the curious, current or prospective citizens, etc. so long as that individual reserves no later than the Wednesday prior to the desired weekend. For international travelers stopping over at LAX, a weekday meeting is also possible.
I would need to know about a week beforehand, as I travel via the bus and/or handicapped transit, and must make an appointment myself (or we might meet at your hotel, if you're staying overnight, etc.)

Face-to-Face meetings / summits between MicroLeaders is a great experience; which proved to be a personal pleasure for myself, when Baron VonServers of the Dominion of British West Florida and I met earlier this year. ( attachments of Dominion~Imperium MicroSummit, and Imperial "State Visits" 2009 ) I highly recommend and encourage all of those who can, whenever they can, to meet with any MicroLeader !!
